Overcoming Anxiety – Steve Zanella | No Schedule Man Podcast, Ep. 45
Steve Zanella helps people learn to overcome anxiety, stress & fear with meditation, mindfulness and love. As he says, “he’s just sharing his story.”
Right from childhood, Steve struggled with anxiety. As he grew older, it only got worse, and showed itself in new and more challenging forms like panic attacks and social withdrawal. Eventually, he began to self-medicate with alcohol and found himself in a very dark place.
In this conversation, Steve openly discusses the challenges he faced for much of his life. But he also shares an open and honest account of what he did – and is doing – to reclaim his well-being and to live a life free of anxiety. He is living proof that it is possible, and it’s part of his mission to help as many people as he can by authentically sharing his experiences from this point on.
Sometimes, everything you want is just on the other side of your comfort zone.

Some of the key things I took from my time with Steve included:
- Changing Your “Why” – Steve tells a moving story of how his love for his daughter “Became The Why” which precipitated his effort to truly change. In short, he wondered if he could love himself the way he loved his daughter. What a thought! Listen for that, and what happened as a result.
- Asking “Why?” – Steve talked about learning to approach everything like a toddler when it comes to understanding his own thoughts, feelings, emotions and beliefs. It’s a great way to look at it! Find out why by listening for what Steve has to say about asking “why?”
- You Can Teach Yourself Anything – As Steve notes, the knowledge is free and readily available to anyone with access to a library, and especially to anyone with access to the internet. But you’ve got to do the work. If you’re willing to do that, you can literally teach yourself to do just about anything, including overcoming anxiety.
Most people, myself included, feel like life pushes them around. And they have to understand that they can take control back. They can grab the wheel and start directing their life. But it’s a lot of work and there’s sacrifice. And it’s difficult sometimes, but it’s also amazing and rewarding.
